Church Weddings

Malta – the ideal destination for a romantic religious ceremony!

As a predominantly Catholic country, church weddings are very popular locally. There are some 365 churches in Malta , each with their own distinct style and characteristics - from the lavish Baroque-style cathedrals in Mdina and Valletta to simpler village chapels in picturesque countryside surroundings.

Church paperwork tends to take some time to complete, so we advise that you start at least 6 months before your chosen date. If you do intend to have a church marriage in Malta, go to your local Parish Priest who will guide you through the normal procedure, provide instruction and fill the prenuptial forms which are then sent on your behalf from your church marriage office to the church marriage office here in Malta.

Marriage forms will be provided and will need to be completed and returned to our wedding planner, with any additional documents requested, at least eight weeks before the wedding. On arrival in Malta, you will be taken to the church marriage office to collect the necessary documents that need to be presented to the priest officiating at your wedding.

Although Malta’s state religion is Roman Catholic, couples from other denominations regularly hold wedding services in churches of their own religion in Malta.
